I was tidying up my remote workshop and cutting some cedar 2×4s into 2×2s on my table saw for some under supports. My saw jammed as I was pushing the wood through. When I went to adjust it, the saw unexpectedly propelled the 2×4 right into my abdomen. I went flying to the ground and felt the wind knocked out of me. I reached under my coat to see if everything was in place and saw blood all over my hands. I thought I was impaled and about to die.
I was assessed immediately by a nurse whose mouth dropped when she saw what happened and I was rushed for a CT scan to ensure my liver was intact. I had never been through an ER so fast. The doctor who saw me said “if you hadn’t been wearing your jacket you’d be dead. The 2×4 would have gone right through you.” I’ll never forget those words.

Every time I put it on I think back to that day and thank my lucky coat for saving my life that day.

This is my second pair. The first I wrecked with brake cleaner (chlorine) and they finally ripped a year later. This pair might last forever!

I bought my first Tough Duck vest 19 years ago. I’ve worn it on job site, on the trail hiking, in the yard cutting wood, and in the bush hunting. It’s still got at least 5 more good years in it, but my wife insisted I get a new one because of the stains and scuffs. To be clear, the zipper is perfect and it hasn’t developed a single hole despite all the abuse it has weathered in almost two decades of use. The new one is built just as tough and I’m sure it will outlive me.

jacket. Breathable, right size to use in drivers’ seat. Attention to detail,
love the retro military olive color. Even tough it is not an action back it
feels like one. 7 pockets, how can you go wrong! I am 5.11 in., 165 lbs. medium
is perfect. Another quality product.

My husband is extremely hard on his work wear. Son bought him this jacket 3
years ago and it's still going. Husband absolutely loves this jacket for the
winter. I can hardly get him out of it to wash it. Great job Tough Duck, on
this jacket in particular.
